The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus on Wednesday, said that Nigeria is now in dire need of the party, as the economy of the country has receded and is getting to the point of collapse under the All Progressive Party (APC) – led government.

Speaking during an interdenominational thanksgiving service held in celebration of Governor Emmanuel Udom’s victory at the Akwa Ibom international stadium, Uyo, the PDP chairman said “Your excellences, Nigeria is in dire need of the PDP, because as you can see the difference, the difference is very clear.

“Eight months ago, the exchange rate was 160, today the exchange rate is 313. Eight months ago, vessels of goods and services were competing on how to enter into our harbor, but today none.

“Our economy is sliding and getting to a point of collapse. The political situation in this country is in coma, and we challenge the APC led government that it is time for them to realise that they need the people, they don’t need the gods because we are not military. They need the people more than the military, more than any other person.”

The PDP chairman, who spoke on behalf of the PDP, National Working Committee, said that the party has chosen to dedicate the victory to God.

His words, “we are here in the name of God almighty. For us, today is to dedicate this victory to God almighty. The victory in Akwa Ibom, the victory in Abia, the victory in Rivers, the victory in Bayelsa and Delta.

“The psalmist said if it had not been the Lord who was on our side, of cause you know what would have happened. The enemies would have wished they conquered all these states I have mentioned, but Gods will will always prevail.
